03 — As available

Lots that no grade table describes.

Surplus reels and sheets, cancelled orders, discontinued runs and accumulated odd sizes. Nothing here can be quoted from a specification, so it is quoted from photographs, weights and an honest description of the condition.

What qualifies

Where stock lots come from.

The material is normally sound. What makes it a stock lot is that it no longer fits the order it was made for.

SourceTypicallyWhat we need to quote
Mills Surplus reels, trial runs, grades taken out of production Reel width and diameter, basis weight, total tonnage
Converters Cancelled orders, overruns, obsolete stock after a spec change Sheet or roll sizes, quantity, packing
Printers Job leftovers, discontinued house stock, odd sizes accumulated over time Mixed inventory list with weights
Packers & warehouses Long-held inventory being cleared for space What it is, how much, how it is stacked

Material that is outside specification rather than simply surplus belongs under Off Grade. In practice a lot is often both, and we quote it either way.

Process

From photograph to booking.

Most stock lots are settled without anyone travelling. Inspection is arranged where the tonnage or the uncertainty justifies it.

Irregular is the normal case here.

Odd sizes, mixed contents and incomplete records do not disqualify a lot. They are the reason it is still sitting in the warehouse, and the reason it needs a trader who will price it rather than a buyer who only reads grade tables.
